Annual Farmers Conference logoFrom Feb. 21-23, ۿ۴ýUniversity’s Cooperative Extension Program will host the 127th annual Farmers Conference, themed “Solving Common Problems in Uncommon Ways: Sustainable Innovation for the People.” Sessions under this umbrella will address emerging issues surrounding small farmers, farm families and rural communities.

This year’s two-day educational forum, held at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Downtown Montgomery, will feature a variety of tours, panel discussions, interactive demonstrations and concurrent workshops. Topics will include a primer on the recently passed Farm Bill and sessions regarding agricultural economics; eldercare; animal health; weather and disaster preparedness; timber, natural resources and agroforestry; and risk management.

Online registration remains available at and ranges from $30 for ۿ۴ý and producers to $150 for agency representatives and professionals.

The ۿ۴ýUniversity Cooperative Extension Program maintains a rich tradition of serving limited-resource and underserved audiences by bringing cutting-edge solutions to 21st century problems throughout Alabama — but especially in the state’s Black Belt region. It focuses its work through a network of county agents, resource specialists and faculty on global food security; natural resource conservation, environmental sustainability and climate change; community resource development; family, home and youth; nutrition and wellness; and food systems and food safety.

For more information about the conference, contact Dr. Raymon Shange, assistant dean for cooperative extension in Tuskegee’s College of Agriculture, Environment and Nutrition Sciences, at 334-724-4967 or rshange@tuskegee.edu.
