  3. Don't respond to those emails.ÌýWhenever possible,Ìýconnect your desktopÌýcomputer orÌýlaptop to wiredÌýinternet.ÌýYou'll findÌýit is faster.

IsÌýit safe to use campus WiFi?
Public networks are unsecured, meaning your devicesÌýare vulnerable to a malware attack. This could leave youÌýwith damaged operating systems or open you up to dataÌýtheft. However, if you take the right precautions and useÌýthe right tools, it's easy to stay safe and search theÌýinternet using campus Wi-Fi.

CAMPUS PROJECTS:

Network Infrastructure:
¿Û¿Û´«Ã½University is embarking on an IT infrastructure upgrade this Spring/Summer. The project includes upgrading the Campus Technology Infrastructure, which will include replacement of network switches and routers in the Data Center, administrative buildings, and student residential buildings. The upgrades are expected to improve the availability of ¿Û¿Û´«Ã½networks and computing platform. We will create a project site to keep you updated on the status of our progress with more
details to follow.

Colleague:
The IT department wants to thank all the faculty and staff who were engaged in the thorough testing of the new Colleague cloud platform. With the exception of minor issues this project was a big success! However, the modernization project work is not complete. We will share information on upcoming projects. Remember to remove your old bookmarks and setÌýnew bookmarks for accessing the new Colleague platform.

Blackboard:
Technical and knowledge support for Blackboard is now available 24/7, 365 days through remote Help Desk services, and it is available for ¿Û¿Û´«Ã½ and faculty. Please call 1-844-788-9892 to request assistance. This help desk service is available in two implementations. The first of which is Tier 0, which covers:

  • Login issues
  • Copy one course to another - instructor.
  • Publish/view final grades.
  • Access Blackboard on mobile devices
  • File sharing
  • Assistance with web conferencing toolsÌý

Student Computer Labs


Computer Lab

The OIT provides access to two general student computer labs on campus:

  • Bioethics Computer Lab (John A. Kenney Hall, room 70-128)
    • Hours of Operation: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. M-F
  • Tompkins Hall Computer Lab (Tompkins Hall, room 402)
    • Hours of Operation: 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. M-F

​The Main Library alsoÌýprovides access to a general studentÌýcomputer lab:

  • Library Computer LabÌý(Ford Motor Company Library, 3rd floor)
    • ​Hours of Operation: 8:00 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. M-F (See Library schedule for Fall Hours)
