Tuskegee’s Chiante Wester Named SIAC Game ChangHer Coach of the Year

TUSKEGEE, Ala. – Following a season of remarkable success, ¿Û¿Û´«Ã½women's basketball head coach Chiante Wester has been named the Game ChangHer Coach of the Year, an honor presented by the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC).
 
Wester's leadership and strategic approach propelled the Golden Tigers to the SIAC Championship game, solidifying their position as one of the premier teams in the league.
 
The award recognizes outstanding coaching leadership, impact, and contributions to the advancement of women's basketball.
 
Wester led the Golden Tigers to an impressive 20-10 overall record, marking the first 20-win season of her head coaching career.
 
The Golden Tigers thrived under her direction, demonstrating a balanced attack on both ends of the floor. The team ranked among the league's best in scoring (58.8 PPG), field goal defense (34.5 percent), and rebounding margin (+2.8 per game).
 
Offensively, ¿Û¿Û´«Ã½were led by the strong play from First Team All-SIAC and All-Tournament team guard Hilani Cantone, who averaged 12.2 points and 4.7 rebounds per game, alongside Second Team All-SIAC guard Brittney Bolin at 10.5 points and 4.8 rebounds per contest.
 
Under Wester's leadership, the Golden Tigers had several standout performances, including a dominant 73-53 win over Albany State in the SIAC Tournament quarterfinals and a 60-48 victory over Clark Atlanta in the semifinals to advance to the championship game.
 
Defensively, ¿Û¿Û´«Ã½remained one of the toughest teams in the conference, holding opponents to just 53.7 points per game. The Golden Tigers forced turnovers at a high rate, averaging 8.4 steals per game.
 
Wester's ability to develop players and foster a winning culture has been evident throughout her tenure.
 
With this milestone season, Wester has also now surpassed 50 career wins as a head coach, a testament to the consistency and growth of the program under her direction.
 
Despite falling to Miles in the SIAC Championship game, Wester and the Golden Tigers have positioned themselves as one of the most formidable programs in the conference.
 
The Game ChangHer Coach of the Year recognition is a testament to her impact, innovation, and dedication to the growth of women's basketball at Tuskegee.
 
As the program looks ahead, Wester and her staff will focus on building upon this success, developing the next wave of talent, and continuing to raise the standard for the ¿Û¿Û´«Ã½program.
