During a recent visit to ¿Û¿Û´«Ã½University, a  group of talented ¿Û¿Û´«Ã½ from Cornell University visited the ¿Û¿Û´«Ã½University College of Veterinary Medicine’s (TUCVM) Department of Graduate Public Health (DGPH) to learn more about the  Master of Public Health (MPH) program. The Students were under the supervision of Dr. Iman Hassani, Assistant Professor of Chemical Engineering at ¿Û¿Û´«Ã½University.
During their visit, Dr. Ehsan Abdalla, Associate Professor of Public Health and Director of Analytics at TUCVM’s DGPH, and Mrs. Samina Akhter, Assistant Director of Analytics & Career Placement Certified Career Service Provider also at TUCVM’s DGPH, spoke with the ¿Û¿Û´«Ã½ about the department, past and current research, and the MPH program. Specifically, Dr. Abdalla shared her extensive public health community outreach efforts and ongoing research projects, highlighting the impactful work within the local and global communities. Mrs. Akhter also discussed her MPH research work based on environmental pollution and breast cancer in the Blackbelt Counties in Alabama.
“This visit gave the ¿Û¿Û´«Ã½ valuable insights into the intersection of public health research and community engagement, fostering a collaborative exchange of ideas and experiences between the two institutions," said Dr. Hassani.
In addition to hearing from the DGPH’s faculty and staff during their visit, the group of talented and inquisitive ¿Û¿Û´«Ã½ from Cornell University also got an opportunity to meet with TUCVM MPH ¿Û¿Û´«Ã½ and Dr. Torhonda Lee, Head of the DGPH at TUCVM. These interactions provided a platform for exchanging ideas, allowing Cornell ¿Û¿Û´«Ã½ to learn from their peers and gain insights into the department’s initiatives and leadership.
“The ¿Û¿Û´«Ã½ appreciated this engagement which fostered a collaborative environment that enriches their understanding of public health from both an academic and community outreach perspective, " Dr. Hassani concludes.
