Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE)

Overview

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering offers programs of study leading to the B.S. and M.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering, and a B.S. degree in Computer Engineering. Our ¿Û¿Û´«Ã½ also participate in the Ph. D. program in Material Science and Engineering.  The programs in the department are led by seven (7) faculty members, and we attract outstanding ¿Û¿Û´«Ã½ from the US and abroad. Many of our ¿Û¿Û´«Ã½ are supported through scholarships, fellowships, research assistantships, and teaching assistantships. The Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET. The Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET,  is responsible for accrediting computer engineering programs. The graduate program in Electrical Engineering is accredited through the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. 

Mission

The mission of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department is to prepare ¿Û¿Û´«Ã½ to have strong technical, scientific, and professional skills and qualities with emphasis on design and commitment to life-long learning, basic and applied research, and public service.  The Department also seeks to support faculty members to develop strong pedagogical and research skills to enhance the transfer of knowledge to ¿Û¿Û´«Ã½.

Electrical Engineering Program Educational Objectives

The educational objectives of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department are derived to support the mission statements of the department, the College of Engineering, and the university.  The Electrical Engineering Program's Educational Objectives are as follows:

  1. Successful practitioners in Electrical Engineering or related fields in industry, private practice or government.
  2. Engaged in graduate studies or continuing education endeavors in engineering or related fields.
  3. Engaged in professional and leadership development by participating in structured professional activities and community service

Computer Engineering Program Educational Objectives

The educational objectives of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department are derived to support the mission statements of the department, the College of Engineering, and the university.  The Computer Engineering Program's Educational Objectives are as follows:

  1. Successful practitioners in Computer Engineering or related fields in industry, private practice or government.
